When you plan a move, it can be hard to get all of your belongings organised.

Depending on how long you have lived at the current location, it may take you days to get everything packed up and ready to ship off. So, how do you do about it?

Below are some great packing tips to help get you started.

- Organize you belongings into groups before you start to put anything into boxes. It will be easier for you to unpack, or get to the most important stuff first, if things that go together are packed together.

- Keep items that you will use right away and items that can wait separated. It may take you days to unpack and you will need your essentials without rummaging through boxes.

- Clearly mark your boxes with marker. If you have packed your items in plastic tubs, as opposed to cardboard boxes, then you may want to place sticky tabs on them instead. This will prevent the marker from rubbing off easily.

- When marking your boxes make sure you get into specifics. Many people mark boxes as “kitchen” or “bedroom”, however this does not help you when it is time to unload.

You need to know exactly where everything is. When you’re standing in an empty house or apartment with a ton of boxes starring back at you, you will breath a sigh of relief that you did not skip this step.
